My Approach to Helping
Hello! I am a clinical licensed social worker passionate about working with individuals and families struggling with severe mood and anxiety. For the past 20 years, I have been working with children, teens, and families in a variety of settings such as hospitals, in-patient residential programs, outpatient clinics, and non-profits. Eleven of those years, I worked in the Stanford Pediatric Bipolar Disorders Program creating and modifying therapeutic treatment modalities for children and families. For this reason, I am best suited for clients with mood or anxiety disorders, behavioral difficulties, psychosis, and suicidal tendencies.
Regardless of your age, we are a team and you will be identifying and defining our goals and leading the path forward. With your permission, we will incorporate one or a combination of the following modalities: mindfulness, cognitive behavior therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, emotion-focused therapy, exposure-based therapy, yoga therapy, or family-based therapy. I am especially experienced at working with teens and young adults with bipolar disorder, psychosis, or PANS. I will explain the modalities, the research, and the reason behind them, and you will decide what you like and don't like.
While working at Stanford, I co-authored many research articles, book chapters, and books, this provides a vast amount of unique knowledge and experience from which I work. I have enjoyed helping children, teens, and families since I was young, and feel incredibly fortunate and fulfilled that I get to work with and learn from everyone.
