My Approach to Helping
Hello, My name is Melanie Bellizzi and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) based in Connecticut and working with clients via telehealth. I work with adults and adolescents specializing in depression, anxiety, stress, and substance use disorders. Using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy to help my clients make progress to live a healthier life. My therapeutic approach is rooted in a client-centered and strengths-based perspective. I believe in creating a safe and empathetic space where clients can openly discuss their concerns and goals. I see myself as a supportive guide, helping clients navigate through life's challenges.
I often work with individuals and families facing a wide range of issues, including mental health challenges, substance abuse, domestic violence, child welfare concerns, aging, and disability. I provide support, counseling, and resources to help clients improve their quality of life. My communication style is client-centered. I prioritize active listening and strive to create a safe and non-judgmental space for my clients to express themselves. I adapt my communication style to the unique needs and preferences of each client, recognizing that individuals come from diverse backgrounds and experiences.
Approaching goal setting with clients is a critical aspect of the therapeutic process. Clients will be encouraged to identify their objectives, develop a plan for achieving them, and will be empowered to take control of their lives. I believe clients should be active participants, and their preferences and values should guide their goals.
During the first session, clients can expect, active listening, empathy, and we will work together towards creating a sense of trust and rapport. My primary goal is to create a supportive and client-centered space where clients can explore their concerns and begin their journey towards personal growth and positive change.
