My Approach to Helping
To be human is to struggle. Navigating through hardships may be difficult, but made easier through support. I take pride in being real, transparent, and making meaningful connections to motivate change. I place special significance on the relationship with clients by tailoring my approach to meet individualized goals, facilitate self-growth, improve well-being and self-awareness to achieve a more pleasurable lifestyle. If you're feeling overwhelmed or depressed, I teach techniques to better manage the emotional stress of life's demands. More importantly, educating patterned behaviors, learning skills, overcoming internal obstacles are key to tackling the difficulties that come along.
More Info About My Practice
As a Licensed Professional Counselor in Idaho, I provide individual Mental Health Therapy via telehealth services to adults experiencing anxiety, depression, as well as specializing with confidence-building, past trauma, co-dependence, and relational challenges and conflict. I acquired a Bachelor's Degree in Human Services and a Master's Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. Continued education is important to my continued growth in how I service my clients.
Being that counseling requires trusting the person you are working with, I find it important to share a bit about myself. I grew up in Virginia Beach enjoying the simple pleasures of nature, art, and music. Creativity are still an integral aspect of my identity and happiness. During my enlistment in the military as an Air Traffic Controller with the Navy, I met my husband, whom I have two sons with. Thereafter, we moved up to Idaho to be close to family and set up roots. I subsequently pursued the helping profession to impact my community in a positive way. I found a passion in helping others with their challenges using experiences of roadblocks I personally grappled with. I am motivated to help others find stability within their lives through building autonomy.
My Therapy Focus
As a therapist, I am warm, direct, transparent, and hard-working. My time in the military taught me the importance of progressing towards goals as a team, effective communication, as well as calling things like I see it in a blunt but caring fashion. I find this essential, as we can make the most out of the time spent together. I provide an genuine understanding of the conflicts that my clients face through unconditional positive regard and support, improved awareness of triggers, and learning skills to overcome life obstacles. I utilize CBT, DBT, Psychodynamic Therapy, Gestalt Therapy, and Humanistic Therapeutic Approaches. While I would love to work with everyone, I feel it is important to have a good fit, while also considering whether that the challenges match the specialties I practice.
