My Approach to Helping
Hi there, I'm Melissa! My name is Melissa Switzer. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) based near Austin, Texas. I work with clients state-wide utilizing telehealth. I work best with adolescents to adults, ranging in age from 10 and up. I specialize in anxiety, stress, depression, anger management, ADHD, grief, neurodivergence, trauma, and life issues associated with the LGBTQ-plus community as a straight ally. I use psychoanalytic and Cognitive Behavioral therapy to help clients reach their therapeutic goals.
My approach to therapy varies based on the needs of each client I work with. I approach therapy with an eclectic assortment of approaches and tools to individualize our work together to meet your needs best.
I have worked in the mental health field for many years. I have been a practicing therapist since 2009. I am open to working with anyone who is looking to better understand themselves and unlock their potential. My clinical experience spans clients of all ages and from all walks of life.
My communication style is calm and personable, with the ability to tell clients the information they need to hear. I hope my clients feel safe and comfortable to talk about anything. I want them to share without feeling judged.
I've always helped others. I also come from experiences. And I love to see when clients have that moment of recognition for themselves. That makes my heart soar.
My approach is to empower my clients and help them if needed to direct goal setting. Where do they want to be, and how or what do we need to get there?
The initial session includes creating a treatment plan and discussing how I can help help you. As well as answer questions you may have so that I may be able to provide you with the best therapeutic experience possible.
