My Approach to Helping
My name is Meredith McCannon. I am a licensed professional counselor in the state of Missouri. My approach to therapy is client-centered and solution-focused.
My therapeutic approach has a few theories involved. I used dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) and cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) for mindfulness and thoughtfeeling behavior change.
I have a degree in Community counseling and have worked with all ages. The most common diagnosis is PTSD, MDD, GAD, Bi-polar, and Borderline Personality Disorder.
I believe in building rapport and trust with clients to be able to work together on solutions.
My journey to becoming a therapist consisted of helping in the community and seeing a need for therapists that were not judgmental or overwhelmed. I will spend the time needed to help you learn and practice coping skills.
We would work together to determine self oriented goals and find interventions to meet those goals.
The first session is me getting to know you and finding out about your situation and history.
