My Approach to Helping
I am not going to bullshit you, proper therapy is hard work. The work we do together will be intense. Expectations will be set from session one about what you want to accomplish through treatment. I will hold you accountable but in an empathetic and caring way. I use a mixture of cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), and meaning-making narrative therapy to cater a unique approach to each client.
My patients have described me as "Invested when I speak to Mike during sessions I can see how engaged and active he is to help me" as well as "Blunt, but compassionate. You can tell he cares, and that allows him to challenge and push me to be a better version of myself". From session one, we are going to establish what you want to work on in therapy so I can both be your cheerleader and accountability partner. I am not here to push my own agenda. My job is to take what you tell me is important and, in a way that respects you and always leads with empathy and kindness, push you to grow into the person you want to become
