My Approach to Helping
I help people change themselves and achieve greater happiness and peace of mind, regardless of whether they are suffering with a clinical disorder, or are simply having personal, professional, or relationship difficulties.
In my practice I incorporate the latest biological, psychological and social research into the factors that impact human wellbeing and suffering. You learn how to combine this knowledge with your personal insights into yourself, in a manner that is practical and can applied over and over in your life.
In addition to holding a doctorate in clinical psychology, I also hold a doctorate in sociology, and I am specially trained in the field of police psychology. I treat most anxiety and mood disorders, and some personality disorders. I specialize in treating people with: 1) relationship problems, 2) trauma, and 3) problems that have a large social, cultural, or existential component.

Specific Issue(s) I'm Skilled at Helping With
I specialize in working with couples who want to improve their relationship, particularly relationships in which one or both have undergone traumatic events. These event can make is very hard to maintain relationships with others, or understand the world as others see it. These experiences can destroy your happiness, but they can also help you develop a more profound understanding of yourself, others and the world. As both a psychologist and sociologist I tend to have a broader more culturally and historically informed understanding of human relationships and trauma than most psychologists.
How Psychotherapy Can Help
Therapy starts with a relationship built on trust. But success in therapy takes more than trust, it takes learning the skills of clear thinking and good relationships. By practicing these skills with someone you trust while you talk about your concerns, you can learn how to increase your happiness and decrease your suffering.
