My Approach to Helping
My name is Michele Jacobson and I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in Florida. I am comfortable working with many kinds of challenges and welcome the opportunity to assist you. I would like to work together to discover the tools necessary for a new outlook in your life. I am here to assist with any issue affecting your well being and have expertise in stress management, anxiety and panic disorders, PTSD, trauma, grief and loss issues as well as worklife balance and self care. I am experienced with life transitions whether it be college, new job, relationships, parenting issues, medical problems, empty nesters or retirement. Life is stressful and does not have to be a journey traveled alone. My passion is helping individuals reach their full potential by helping learn positive coping skills and problem solving skills for a happier healthier state of mind and discovering a peaceful place in their life.
I am creative in my approach and will use whatever treatment modalities are best to promote a safe and accepting space for you to grow while learning strategies for a better quality of life. If appropriate, I do like to incorporate models such a Cognitive Therapy and Solution Focused Therapy to help reframe negative thoughts and help focus on your strengths. While I am extremely comfortable in treating any conditions, my strengths are in the areas of stress, anxietypanic disorders, trauma, grief and loss, life transitions. I have experience in EAP (Employee Assistance Counseling) for federal contracts as well.
To me therapy is broken down into three components: First, we would establish rapport so you can feel comfortable at your own pace and learn what you are seeking help for. Second, I would listen to what you would like to see happen in your life. Three, I would use concrete techniquesstrategies to help you discover what you would like to improve. Therapy should be a wonderful growth filled journey, while you explore solutions that fit into who you are as an individual and in your life
I have wanted to be a therapist since I was 16 years old. Through out my own life growing up, I discovered people would come to me with their problems for advice. I realized how unique each person is and how it is not a "one size fits all" model. I learned how intricate and wonderful the human psyche is and found my passion in learning about human behavior. I am passionate about my work , the clients I serve and humble to have the opportunity to share someones journey with them. I help you to identify what you would like to see improved in your life so you can gain deeper awareness of what can be possible.
Clients can expect a dedicated, committed therapist who is a good listener, who believes each individual has the capacity to change. You can expect a warm, safe and caring environment created with you in mind; a therapist who is non judgmental, open, positive and supportive.
