My Approach to Helping
My name is Michelle Camp, and I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor based in Orlando, Florida working with clients statewide via Telehealth. I specialize in working with childrenadolescents and their guardians related to stress, school issues, self-esteem, and self-identity, using primarily Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and mindfulness-based practices to help my clients understand themselves better and feel better through these critical early years. I am a client-centered therapist, so I will tailor your sessions, and to your needs and where you are at. I frequently use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and mindfulness-based approaches to help establish a safe place to challenge yourself, learn about yourself, and build upon your self-care. I typically work with children and adolescents andor their guardians, as I am also a Certified School Counselor and bring expertise in both mental health and school systems. I also often work with LGBTQIA+ individuals, as my focus is on self-identity, self-esteem, and ultimately enhanced discovery of who you are, your value, and your place in the world.
Clients tell me they appreciate my calmness, kindness, and that I truly listen to them. Everyone has a voice and a story to tell, and my goal is to provide you a comfortable space to open up and have an always-listening ear when you are ready to share. I chose to become a therapist because I find joy in seeing others reach their full potential and grow. I have always been driven toward ways to help, whether through volunteering in shelters or in youth centers, mentoring others, and just being a compassionate friend and family member. This is my dream career, and I am honored when clients trust me to work with them and share in their journey. My goal is that you reach your goals, so we will work on goal-setting together. We will discuss your hopes and visions for therapy and beyond, and we will check in and look at your progress toward achieving them.
In our first session, we will discuss what has brought you to therapy along with questions designed to help me understand your needs best. I look forward to getting to know you over time, and our first session will help me understand what you are looking to get out of therapy, where you are at right now with your feelings, and what is currently going on in your life. You are unique and have your own story, and this session is the prologue to set the stage for all that is to come.
