My Approach to Helping
I believe that the first step for a therapist is to work to develop a relationship with clients where there is trust, respect, and caring. My clinical experience includes work with children, adolescents, battered women, and adults with anxiety, depression, trauma, and substance use issues. I have also facilitated DBT groups for families and children. In addition to my social work, I have been a teacher and mentor at the Waterford School in Sandy, Utah for nearly two decades. Teaching has allowed me to work with students, families, and colleagues to promote academic and social-emotional learning and create an environment in the classroom that fosters growth.
These experiences have helped to prepare me as a therapist and solidified my belief in people's ability to heal and progress. I see this process as a collaborative one with individuals as we work together to identify their goals and to address their physical, emotional, and relational needs.
I am in my final year of my MSW program at the University of Utah. I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of Utah.
