My Approach to Helping

Another sleepless night kept awake either by nightmares, haunting images from the past, or memories that you can’t push away? You’ve tried almost everything to keep the past in the past, but no matter what happens, the past keeps showing up in all the reminders around you in your daily life. The traumatic event(s) were awful enough, reliving them again and again in your mind and body just seems unusually cruel. You’ve tried keeping up appearances at work, around family, but the more you try, the more disconnected you feel. Maybe these events happened long ago, or perhaps some are more recent, and yet you keep wondering if there’s something wrong with you that you can’t just “get over” them.

You’re not “crazy” or “broken”, and there is hope. This does not have to be a life sentence of suffering after you’ve already experienced more than enough with these traumatic events. There are very effective treatments that have shown reliable results, to help you move forward. In addition to decreasing moments of reliving traumatic events, and the need to avoid anything that reminds you of them, you can:
1. Reconnect to those most important to you
2. Shift from self-blame and shame to a more non-judgmental, understanding, and compassionate self-view
3. Find meaning, satisfaction, and fulfillment in your work, activities, and daily life
4. Have a sense of hopefulness again, and more freedom to do what is most important to you

More Info About My Practice

My focus is on delivering evidence-based mental health services, in a practical and relatable way, to help clients get unstuck from their pasts and move forward. I provide treatment for trauma, anxiety, PTSD, stress-reduction, and mood concerns that are focused and highly personalized. All interventions are based on research-backed methods that work.

After successfully completing evidence-based treatment for post-traumatic stress disorder, many of my clients report experiencing less anger, disconnection, and feeling on-edge with those around them.

Clients also express having:
+ A clearer understanding of their personal limits with others, and less guilt with being assertive
+ Less self-blame, less shame, and guilt that has kept them feeling trapped and isolated for years
+ Less experiences of reliving traumatic events, and not being as bothered by reminders of their past
+ Greater clarity about what and who is most meaningful to them, and thus feeling more connected to themselves, others, and the world around them

Ready to get started?
Here are the next steps you can do to have greater insight, knowledge, & tools to get unstuck:
1. Get in touch with me: This may be one of the hardest steps in the healing process you’ll have to do by yourself. However, if you reach out to me, and send me your info, I’ll take it from there, and will support you each step of the way.
2. Complete a brief consult: It may be nerve-wracking to make a phone call, and you may not know what to say, but I’ll walk you through it, orienting you to what to expect when working with me. That way you can be sure that we’re a good fit, and have greater peace of mind of taking this big step.
3. Have your first session: We’ll set up a good time for us to meet and complete your initial assessment. This step is a collaboration between us to ensure we have a good road map from the very beginning to get you exactly where you want to go.

Specific Issue(s) I'm Skilled at Helping With

As no trauma type is the same, I offer different and targeted treatments designed for different types of conditions resulting from life threatening & terrifying events. Treatment is highly personalized and tailored to an individual's experience to include post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), complex PTSD, sexual trauma, and childhood trauma.

Additional conditions that may stem from traumatic events, such as intrusive and unwanted thoughts that become obsessive, along with rituals or compulsions to provide temporary relief from these thoughts,
are also treated with evidence-based interventions that have shown good outcomes.

I also collaborate with clients to ensure that each area of their lives that has been stunted by trauma is addressed to ensure they have the strategies and motivation they need to gain greater freedom and take meaningful risks. This ensures they are actively creating a life that is worthwhile and fulfilling.
