My Approach to Helping
I am a Marriage, Family, and Child therapist licensed in Arizona with over 12 years of experience working in the mental health field. I have worked as a child and family counselor, a crisis first responder, and a clinical supervisor for mentally ill adults. I have worked with children, adolescents, adults, families, and couples with a wide range of concerns, including mood issues, anxiety, relationship and family problems, phase of life changes, stress & anger management, behavioral problems, and ADHD. My counseling style is open and authentic. I believe in treating all with respect, sensitivity, and compassion, and I do not believe in stigmatizing labels. My approach is goal-oriented and combines solution-focused, realistic, and cognitive-behavioral counseling. I am also able to provide family dynamics and couples therapy. When working with children and adolescents, I have learned that the best approach is honesty, and I recognize that building rapport with kids is often the most important first step. Once we can talk openly, my goal is to help the adolescent child understand what's upsetting them and help them learn how to take control of their choices and behaviors while also learning appropriate coping skills to manage their feelings. As we begin our work together, I will listen carefully to your concerns, issues, and goals, and we will then collaborate on the kind of treatment that will be best for you and tailor our interactions and your treatment plan to meet your unique and specific needs. It takes courage to search for a more fulfilling and happier life, and taking the first step of asking for help takes the most courage - I applaud you for being here! If you are ready to take that step, I am here to support and assist you.
I look forward to working with you!
