My Approach to Helping

Mikela Rae Bowers is a Licensed Professional Counselor who has over 10 years of experience in mindfulness-based practices and therapies. Mikela works with those experiencing deep suffering due to life's ever-changing nature. From parenting teenagers to divorce or grief over the death of a loved one, Mikela offers therapies to facilitate healing the anxieties, depression, and traumas often accompanying these life events. Working together with her clients, Mikela finds the roots of suffering particular to each one and cultivates an environment and framework for healing.

Mikela completed her Master of Arts (MA) in Counseling Psychology at Texas A&M University. Surviving two divorces and a graduate program while also being the sole breadwinner for herself and her daughter, Mikela understands the many arrows thrown particularly at single women in our culture. As a veteran, mom, professional, divorcee, and trauma survivor, she is in a great place to help with many life transitions, anxieties, and slaps-in-the-face we all encounter along the way. A lifelong seeker of peace, Mikela has learned to cultivate it even in the worst of circumstances. She also humbly maintains a keen awareness of the thieves of peace constantly berating us all. Through awareness, time, and commitment we all may access the peace-of-mind we so intensely need, and Mikela offers her wisdom, experience, training and knowledge to help you find it.

Mikela utilizes collaborative, mindfulness-based, cognitive, spiritual, and emotional approaches to therapy, always maintaining awareness and flexibility to adapt to each individual or couple\'s needs. She excels in offering shifts in perception and perspective, allowing for rapid relief from many of life\'s painful experiences. Also having myriad life experiences herself involving deep suffering, Mikela\'s empathy is immediately felt upon interacting with her. Mikela’s clients often comment on the experience of feeling totally accepted and “un-judged” right away, allowing them to feel comfortable and safe in the counseling relationship.

While life has suffering inherent within it, Mikela works with her clients to maneuver the treacherous terrain, helping them to find peace and the ability to cope in the face of it all. We all deserve a safe space to process what life throws our way, free from judgement and unsolicited advice. As a professional, Mikela is highly skilled, ethical, and effective; as a human, Mikela is a kind and welcoming space in which you may find acceptance and understanding. Connect with Mikela today to begin your own new chapter of taking responsibility for–and improving–your level of peace and quality life experience.
