My Approach to Helping
“If you don’t make time to work on creating the life you want, you’re eventually going to be forced to spend a lot of time dealing with a life you don’t want.” (Kevin Ngo) Do you find yourself making time for everything and everyone but find it challenging to take the time to solely focus on your own compassionate care? So many of us prioritize the loving care of our family and friends while neglecting to tend to ourselves as if we were our own most treasured other. Too often, we allow our overly harsh inner voice of self-judgment to serve as our most oppressive critic, draining us of the momentum needed to manifest our fullest potential and the life we truly desire. Unleash the potential of your best self and stop settling for the comforts of habit or the stagnation of fear. When your thoughts begin to work against you, or your emotions feel unmanageable, and your social systems don’t feel supportive, activate your greatest strength – your willingness to seek support. I work with individuals and couples to learn what it really means and feels like to anchor in the wise guidance to “put on your oxygen mask first.” We will work to uncover and disrupt emotional and interpersonal patterns that are no longer serving you, helping you become the person you truly want to be. I offer free 15-minute phone consultations. Please reach out to me even if you’re unsure of where to start, and together we can begin a journey towards a better life for you. As a licensed clinical psychologist with over 20 years of experience, I use my training in evidence-based practice to promote self-awareness, perspective expansion, and the willingness to maintain action toward good mental health practices for individuals and couples. I have substantial advanced training in motivational interviewing (MI), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), and mindfulness-based interventions for problematic substance use, trauma, anxiety, depression, and interpersonal concerns. I also practice Gottman-informed interventions for couples and other relationship structures. I enjoy working with all humans, but especially young adults, professionals, other therapists, and folks in non-conventional relationships.
