My Approach to Helping
Have you been considering therapy but reluctant to schedule that first session? It can be uncomfortable asking for help. I believe that psychotherapy is a collaborative process; the most important element is a strong alliance between therapist and client. As a therapist who believes that all people are capable of change and growth, my hope is that I can join with you to assist in identifying your goals and developing a plan to address them in a satisfying way. Whatever problems or issues you might present, I will provide support and honor your experiences.
More Info About My Practice
I have been seeing clients (adults, couples, adolescents, and families) since 2002. Some of my particular areas of expertise include: mood disorders (depression and bipolar,) relationships, addiction, traumaPTSD, anxiety, abuse, self-esteem, eating disorders, premarital issues, family conflict, infertility, and LGBTQ concerns.
My fees are comparable to those of similarly experienced therapists in the Bay Area. While I do not work directly with any insurance companies, I am happy to provide you with a summary statement each month which you can submit to your plan to request out-of-network reimbursement. (Please check with your insurance company prior your first session to find out if they offer this benefit.) For individuals who are unable to pay the standard fee, such as students, interns, people who are unemployed or on a fixed income, I do offer a sliding scale.
My Role as a Therapist
I see my role as your therapist to be, most importantly, an ally and advocate for you. I will offer unwavering support as you navigate the sometimes scary, sometimes exciting, journey of personal growth. My hope is that we will work together in our sessions to find solutions to your concerns and help you achieve your goals.
