My Approach to Helping
"Hello, I’m Nahtanha, I am a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor who is passionate about offering therapy that is inclusive to all." I have a strength-based and person-centered approach. I work in collaborative ways that keep the client’s priorities and goals the main focus during their path to recovery. I have 3 years of experience working with a very diverse population. My clients come from a wide range of social-cuiltural backgrounds. I have worked with individuals and couples in dealing with depression, anxiety, trauma, body image issues, grief, low self-esteem, and life transition.
My communication style is relaxed, accommodating, personable, and some humor. I want my clients to feel comfortable to talk to me about anything. I have always been attracted to helping people. I started volunteering as a young adult in my community to help in skilled nursing facilities to be an emotional buddy. Progressing to me volunteering with the local crisis hotline. I have a passion for helping others. Goal setting is a collaborative process. It’s like setting your GPS to your destination. You know where you want to go just need some directions to get there.
In our first session, I will provide empathy and compassion to build a safe place where you can talk openly and honestly without worrying about judgment or bias. We will talk the most about how your moods have been lately and I will ask some questions to clarify why you have been feeling that way. The session's main focus is building a trusting relationship.
