My Approach to Helping
My name is Nancy Anderson. I am a licensed, clinical professional counselor, and also a certified alcohol and drug counselor. I have a passion for working with clients, experiencing life transitions, including divorce and bereavement issues, stress management, anger management, and those clients interested in personal growth. Additionally, I enjoy working with young adults, college students, substance abuse, and invocational Counseling. I employ CBT(cognitive behavioral therapy). I believe the mind is the most powerful organ in our body. Additionally, I employ family theory. Our families form many of the viewpoints that we carry into our adult life. I typically work with clients that are wanting to find solutions to their personal and professional challenges. I work quite often with anxiety and depression, divorce and life, transitions, stress, and anger management.
My goal is to create a safe environment where my clients can share and work towards solutions in their personal and professional life, working towards personal growth. I was influenced to become a therapist by a dear friend, that I knew socially that was a warm, inviting, and highly competent therapist. I believe nobody will ever know the client better than the client. I feel that we should work together towards setting goals with an eye towards short-term and long-term goals that are fulfilling to the client's life objectives.
Client should expect the first session to focus on the client telling me their story, and what their goals are for counseling. I hope to create a safe, warm, and welcoming environment of mutual understanding.
