My Approach to Helping
I believe therapy is a place for self-exploration and building awareness of what is holding you back from leading a more fulfilling life. Whether you have suffered a recent loss or trauma, are suffering from painful emotions, or having trouble coping with a life transition, therapy is a place to be heard and supported as you navigate the difficult path towards healing. I utilize an integrative approach to therapy. My role is to create a safe, supportive environment and ask thoughtful questions to help you better understand yourself. I find that in this ever-shifting world these days, we are continually being asked to explore new ways of knowing ourselves: to inwardly know and learn to navigate our own lives from within that space. I work with modalities such as mindfulness-based practices, cognitive behavioral techniques (CBT), and eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR) to assist others in dealing with their traumas and lifelong struggles. Once we can see our situation clearly, we are less likely to continue to contribute to our own suffering. We can become aware of our conditioned responses, and then and only then can we begin to choose a new path. I welcome you to your path of self-discovery, and I am here to listen and be a gentle guide if you so choose. I have seen many of my clients become quite capable of being able to navigate anxiety and traumas from the past once they make a commitment to themselves to do the work that needs to be done.
