My Approach to Helping
I lived in 3 different countries throughout my formative years which has inspired in me a love for multiculturalism, open-heartedness, resilience, and a passion for helping people heal. My therapy style is warm and compassionate. I am empathetic, direct, and have an ability to make people feel at ease. Where appropriate, I draw from my interest, knowledge, and experience with mythology and eco-therapy to assist my clients. I consider it an honor to help clients reconnect with themselves, move towards self-love, attain more peaceful relationships, and improve their life circumstances. I am an LGBTQIA+ affirming therapist. Additionally, I am genuinely respectful and considerate of all different sexual and gender identities, cultures, ethnicities, and faiths.
“The essence of therapy is in making clients feel deeply known as they really are and deeply accepted as they really are” – David G. Martin
My approach to working with clients begins with a 15 minute free phone consultation to determine the suitability of therapist to client, to determine whether services would be appropriate, and to set the fee for treatment. Afterward, my approach involves building upon clients strengths, providing psycho-education, exploring the presenting problem or symptoms, teaching self-regulation skills, and helping clients to manage the difficulties in their lives. Additionally, I utilize my knowledge of somatic psychology, EMDR, mythology, archetypes, and psychoanalytic techniques to help clients to get to the core of their problem.
Every person has unique sets of dynamics, experiences, and diversity that make up who they are. The nuances and the reasons why people come to therapy are as diverse as the people themselves. Thus, I use a multi-modal approach to create an individualized treatment plan for each client with the client’s involvement.
The therapeutic container allows us to see and to be seen- and when that happens- you make “true” art.
