My Approach to Helping
I support my clients with developing a deeper understanding of themselves through a lens of compassion, collaboration, empathy and strength.
My therapy style is down to earth, warm, inviting and active. I believe therapy is most effective when it is a collaborative process between the client and the therapist. We will work together to explore, reflect and identify areas in which insight and change are needed to achieve your goals. In sessions, I openly share my thoughts and my perspective as a guiding force but respect and believe that you are the leader in the room. I am passionate about helping people develop inner strength, increase self awareness and learn how to set boundaries in order to find more balance and joy in their lives.

My View on the Purpose of Psychotherapy
I believe my approach to therapy is mostly rooted in Humanistic Theory, which emphasizes that focusing on connecting to your true self will lead you to the most fulfilling life. It is based on the idea that everyone has their own unique way of looking at the world and this personal view is what shapes your choices and actions. Humanistic theory also believes in the core value that people are innately good in their heart and deserving of love and compassion. The belief that lifting yourself up in high self-worth will ultimately lead you to living at your highest potential.
I also use other modalities and treatment approaches that I tailor to each client's unique needs as I do not believe there is a "one size fits all" approach. I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) as a tool for managing anxious thoughts, challenging one's negative beliefs, and changing specific patterns of behavior. I believe CBT can be a very useful treatment approach however it does not have as much effectiveness when it comes to understanding how your upbringing shaped you as a person. I use Attachment and Psychodynamic theory principals to help clients with deepening their understanding of how childhood relationships shape their current relationships and how that impacts their choices and actions.
Ultimately I believe in seeing people as a whole and that means that everyone will have unique needs and strengths in therapy and I will tailor my support to best fit these needs.
