My Approach to Helping
Does it feel like you are carrying a weight that only you can shoulder, fear that you don’t belong? Do you feel alone and disconnected to your previous life as you are proceeding to this next unknown chapter? It can be hard to admit how much you are struggling to reconnect to your family and the life you had before this transition. Transitions can cause relationships that were once supportive to feel now unfamiliar. There is a distance that you can’t explain and it’s hard to understand why you feel angry, confused, and alone. If you are struggling with imposter syndrome you might feel like you don’t belong in your new environment.
You may have just got accepted to college, started a new career, or received a promotion and still have that feeling like you are not deserving of it. As a Latina therapist and veteran, I can relate to the pressure that comes with expansion and moving into new spaces, while also honoring the legacy in which you came from.
Sometimes seeking support and tapping into your natural strengths requires you to move past that voice that tells you no one is going to help you. I have heard that voice many times and as your therapist, I will support you in hearing the other voice that says are deserving. And remember, you got this!
