My Approach to Helping
Our modern life is so crowded with demands and distractions that many of us feel overextended, under supported, and disconnected. At times, it can be difficult to find meaning and purpose in our lives and relationships.
Therapy can provide a nonjudgmental space to share and openly explore challenges. Through a warm, compassionate, and direct style, I help my clients gain greater self-awareness by identifying the barriers keeping them stuck. We work collaboratively to recognize and begin to challenge and modify interpersonal patterns, habits, and beliefs that that are keeping you stuck. You will feel heard, understood, and empowered to explore your life and make lasting change.
I apply a biopsychosocial lens and my approach is process based and integrative. I put a high value on relationships - I think improving significant relationships and building strong social networks can reduce symptoms and meaningfully improve overall wellbeing. I strive to meet each client where they are and work collaboratively to find the best way forward. I pull from multiple evidence-based modalities including cognitive behavioral therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, and interpersonal psychotherapy. I find mindfulness practices almost always helpful to my clients and often incorporate these practices into treatment.
I pull from different modalities to meet your needs. Sometimes, we might have an exploratory session to increase self awareness or self compassion. Other times we might engage in active behavioral experiments or exposures. Through our work together, you will learn to build skill and confidence to manage life’s stressors. Together, we move beyond symptom reduction toward a value-based life where you live more consciously with more clarity and a better understanding and acceptance of self.
