My Approach to Helping
My name is Nicole Iredale, and I'm a Licensed Professional Counselor with over 10 years of experience. My approach to therapy centers around listening to my clients and working in collaboration to reach treatment goals and help people regain a sense of wellness. My primary areas of focus include trauma, depression, anxiety, stress, mood disorders, members of the LGBTQIA+ community, and Borderline Personality Disorder. My primary goal as a therapist is to make life easier for my clients by helping them gain insight into what is negatively affecting their lives and how to overcome and cope with these obstacles.
My approach to therapy starts by listening to and hearing my clients in an environment which is safe, supportive, and free from any kind of judgment. Preferred theoretical approaches include DBT, CBT, and trauma-informed therapy, with an eclectic use of techniques under this umbrella.
I work with clients ages 13 and up and specialize in adolescents, young adults, and adults of various backgrounds. As stated above, my areas of specialization include trauma, depression, stress, anxiety, mood disorders (e.g., Bipolar Disorder), working with members of the LGBTQIA+ community, and Borderline Personality Disorder.
My virtual office is a safe place where clients come to speak openly and freely about the things going on in their lives. Sessions are a place of support, and genuine interests driven by my strong sense of empathy and understanding. My office is a place you will know is safe and judgment-free.
My journey to becoming a therapist began in adolescence with poor-fit therapists who did not listen. I did not feel understood, nor did I really get help. What drives me today as a therapist is being a human who has overcome extreme difficulties in life and to be that therapist who does work with you, who hears you, and can help guide you through your journey to overcome whatever difficulties you may be experiencing.
My goal for every client is to improve their quality of life. With regard to setting goals, clients are typically in an excellent position to help define goals for their own lives, and if a helping hand is needed, it will be there. Goals are set in collaboration, and I work with my clients to develop a treatment plan.
Our first session is a chance to get to know one another and discuss reasons for coming to counseling. It is a chance for me to understand more about my clients, help them identify difficulties they are facing, and start to set goals to get back on the path to emotional wellness.
