My Approach to Helping

Have you ever tried to "take a break" and then found the voice in your head telling you about all the things you "should" be doing? When the pressures of life get to be too overwhelming we tend to put ourselves last. So many of my clients get caught up in meeting everyone else's needs that they start to feel burned out - they might even be feeling resentful. Yet, they think "but my life isn't that bad" or "other people have it so much worse, so I feel like I should just be happy." If you are living a life that is taking too much from you and you need to find some balance and rest, you have come to the right place.

I want to help you learn to set boundaries and say "no" without feeling consumed with guilt or worry. I know it is hard to prioritize yourself, but it can start with one hour each week that is focused only on you and your needs. It really is possible to reshape your life and live in a more balance way that allows room for you to take care of yourself too.

One of my passions is working with clients who are seeking therapy for the first time, or have been looking to take this step for a while but haven't been sure how to get started. I am a Licensed Psychologist with over 18 years of experience working with adults, parents, children, and families. I truly value the importance of getting knowing your unique life story. My continued passion for this field comes from the amazing clients I have encountered through the years.

My Therapy Focus

It is so important to build insight, understanding, and self-compassion in therapy. I want to help you understand why you do the things you do, so we can learn what changes will make your life better. Therapy will focus on understanding how your values, thoughts, emotions, behaviors, and habits impact your life and your decisions.

I work with many clients who feel exhausted and overwhelmed with trying to take care of everyone else in their life. This usually means they need to ignore and avoid those emotions so they can just keep pushing forward. The first step in treatment is learning to when it is best to acknowledge and listen to your emotions, and when to quiet the emotions without shutting them out completely.
