My Approach to Helping
Welcome! I look forward to getting to know you more, but for now, here is a bit about me! In 2013, I graduated from Arizona State University with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and minors in Sociology and Family and Human Development. In 2017, I graduated from Grand Canyon University with a Master's Degree in Professional Counseling and went on to become a licensed professional counselor (LPC). I am also Trauma and Telehealth certified. I have been working in the counseling field for over 8 years. I have worked in the school system with children in the Emotional Disturbance (ED) classes as well as in the community, providing interventions and support to children and families involved in the state system. For over 5 years, I worked at a maximum security prison specializing in working with the Seriously Mentally Ill (SMI) community. At the beginning of 2021, I transitioned to teletherapy in order to best serve those in the community. I work with all age ranges and have helped many clients navigate healingcoping with major depression, anxiety, PTSD, trauma, and sleep disorders. I personally enjoy using Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Mindfulness, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Solution Focused Therapy techniques. I have also come to realize that many people just want to engage in talk therapy. Despite my therapeutic preferences, I always tailor my approach to what is most suitable for my clients' interests and end goals! I genuinely enjoy learning from my clients and helping them traverse through their personal obstacles. I hope to be the right “fit” for your needs; however, if you come to feel otherwise, please do not hesitate to let me know! I am open to feedback and truly believe not every counselor is a perfect “fit” for every person. Nothing is more important than feeling comfortable and compatible with the person to whom you are entrusting your vulnerabilities. I look forward to providing light and direction as you work through any challenges you have been enduring.
