My Approach to Helping
I understand what it’s like to say “yes” when your soul is screaming “no!” and to live in constant turmoil, caught in the webs of other people’s expectations. Have you lost yourself and constantly seeking validation and acceptance from others? Does this lead to a life of chaos, confusion, and unhappiness? Do you have a smile plastered on your face to mask the overwhelm you feel inside? Imagine a life where decisions reflect YOUR desires and needs. I don’t want you to wake up every day bound by the chaos in your brain but fueled by clarity and self-love, living in harmony with your true self. I want you to be free to live authentically, so your life echos your values and aspirations.
I have been helping people build resiliency and take back their life for nearly 15 years, and I can help you. I love to teach skills to help people manage the difficult parts of their lives. I have numerous tools that I can teach you to decrease the distress and chaos impacting your life. I am not a smile and nod therapist. I am direct and solution focused. I may challenge you to help you see areas that may be in your blind spots. It may be hard work at times, and we will also laugh. I am also trained in a number of modalities to assist you with anxiety, trauma, people pleasing tendencies, stress, and grief. I am trained in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) where I can assist you in reprocessing difficult or traumatic events that are holding you back from being the real you. I use CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy) to help with distorted thinking, negative thought patterns, or help with a harsh inner critic. I may also help with mindfulness skills to assist you in being present and break patterns of living in the fears of what is to come, or the regrets of the past through the use of grounding techniques. We will come up with a plan that works best for you. I am constantly learning to increase my skills to help you through your current struggles with the most up to date information and interventions. I find these types of approaches help clients get to the root of the problem quicker and achieve the goals they desire in counseling.
