My Approach to Helping
Hi, I'm Norina Asante-Kellam, a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) who holistically supports children, adolescents, and families. I integrate mindfulness, evidence-based practices, and transpersonal psychology to honor the spiritual, cultural, social, and emotional elements that make up the full spectrum of what it means to be a human (being). I work with individuals ages 5-18, helping them navigate various life challenges, and offering guidance and support that fosters personal growth, resilience, and a deeper connection to themselves.
My communication style is warm, empathetic, and collaborative, creating a safe and supportive environment for clients. I strive to foster an atmosphere of trust and openness, encouraging clients to express themselves freely without judgment. During sessions, I actively listen and engage with clients, using reflective questioning to help them gain insight into their thoughts and feelings.
I also like to incorporate humor into our work together, as I believe it can be a powerful tool for connection and can lighten the mood, making challenging topics feel more approachable. Working with me feels like a partnership; I aim to empower clients by validating their experiences and guiding them through their challenges at their own pace. My tone is encouraging and compassionate, emphasizing growth and exploration. I celebrate small victories along the way, helping clients feel valued and understood as they navigate their unique journeys. Overall, I create a space where clients feel comfortable, supported, and seen to explore their potential for healing and personal development.
