My Approach to Helping

I am a dedicated and empathetic counselor committed to providing personalized, strengths-based, and person-centered care to individuals aged 14 and older. With over five years of experience in mental health environments, I am passionate about empowering clients on their unique journeys toward healing and self-discovery.

I believe in the inherent strength and resilience of every individual. My approach is collaborative and tailored to meet the distinct needs of each client. I utilize a range of evidence-based modalities—including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), trauma-focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), as well as EMDR and CPT techniques—to help address challenges such as depression, anxiety, and trauma. Additionally, I incorporate assertiveness and communication skills training to support the development of practical, everyday coping strategies.

I am deeply committed to working with diverse populations, including LGBTQ+ individuals and those navigating women’s issues. I understand how experiences of oppression and the politics surrounding identity can contribute to feelings of rejection, hopelessness, and depression. My goal is to create a safe, non-judgmental space where you can explore your strengths, confront challenges, and rebuild self-esteem—especially if you have experienced the effects of dysfunctional environments or other adversities.

I offer a genuine, warm, and empathic approach to therapy, aiming to provide stability, understanding, and positive regard throughout your journey. My practice is open for sessions Monday through Thursday, between 11 AM and 6 PM, and I offer both in-person and virtual appointments to accommodate your needs.

Together, we can work towards a future where you feel empowered, understood, and ready to embrace your full potential.

How Psychotherapy Can Help

Psychotherapy can help in a variety of ways by offering both a supportive environment and practical tools to manage life's challenges. Here are some of the key benefits:

-A Safe, Caring Space: For many, therapy is the first place they encounter an environment where their feelings and experiences are fully acknowledged and supported. This safe space can be crucial for healing, allowing you to express yourself without judgment.

-Practical Skill Building: Therapy offers effective strategies to manage and regulate difficult emotions. You can learn problem-solving techniques, cognitive reframing, and other methods that help shift negative thought patterns into more positive, constructive ones.

-Trauma Recovery: Evidence-based approaches such as EMDR, CPT, and TF-CBT are specifically designed to address trauma-related symptoms like flashbacks, avoidance behaviors, and emotional numbness. These therapies can help you process traumatic experiences, reduce their emotional impact, and develop healthier coping mechanisms.

-Enhanced Self-Awareness and Resilience: Through the therapeutic process, you gain deeper insight into your thoughts, behaviors, and emotions. This increased self-awareness can lead to personal growth and greater resilience when facing future challenges.

-Tailored, Collaborative Support: Therapy is not a one-size-fits-all solution. It?s a collaborative journey where the techniques and approaches are tailored to your unique needs and circumstances, empowering you to navigate your path toward healing and self-discovery.
