My Approach to Helping

In our core each of us want to feel seen and understood. Often, different events and circumstances in our life leave us feeling misunderstood by ourselves and others. This can cause great feelings of pain and agony that often lead to behavioral patterns which cause a disconnection from self. I hope that during our work together we can identify these misunderstandings and work towards alleviating the pain they have caused through healing your relationship with yourself and those around you. I hope that our work together can provide you an opportunity to learn about yourself while feeling seen and understood.

I have worked with a variety of demographics and a range of conditions including: depression, anxiety, addiction, PTSD, early childhood trauma, grief, etc. Throughout my experience I have been perpetually inspired by the resilience, strength and vulnerability of those seeking change and have deep respect for how challenging the process can often be.

More Info About My Practice

I use a variety of therapies during my practice and believe the therapeutic relationship to be the most important factor in change. I work from a trauma informed perspective and often use a blend of cognitive and psychodynamic therapy. I am also trained in DBT and Brainspotting.

My View on the Purpose of Psychotherapy

Our beliefs, emotional states and behavioral patterns are often engrained in us at an early age. In adulthood we often lack awareness of our belief systems, our defenses and the greater function of them. Psychotherapy can help to answer the questions of "why do I do what I do?" and "why am I the way I am." Through answering these questions we can help evaluate if the current way you are living your life and relating with others is serving you, or if change may be more beneficial.
