My Approach to Helping
I believe the client is the expert and knows more about themselves than anyone else. I will listen to you and assist you in identifying thought patterns that may be holding you back. Together, we will work through this and find effective coping skills and techniques to assist you in living your best and most productive life that you deserve. This is your therapeutic journey, and I’m excited to join you. I graduated with my bachelor’s degree in 1999 with a double major in Substance Abuse and General Psychology. I then went on to earn my master’s degree in 2003 and am a Licensed Professional Counselor and Licensed Mental Health Professional in Nebraska. I am easy to talk to and am very open and compassionate. I have experience working with individuals, couples, teens, adolescents, LGBTQ+, detainees, and groups. I have had the privilege of working in several types of settings, such as private practice, mental health clinics, schools, hospitals, and detention centers.
I have experience working with a wide range of mental health issues, such as griefloss, traumaPTSD, depression, anxiety, abuse, family conflicts, self-esteem issues, and addictions. Another specialty of mine is the interpretation of dreams. I believe that many times, by analyzing your dreams, it helps you gain a deeper understanding of yourself. My approach to therapy adheres to Client-Centered Therapy (also known as Person-Centered, Non-Directive, and Rogerian Therapy), Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, Mindfulness Therapy, Trauma-Focused Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing.
