My Approach to Helping
I'm passionate about helping my clients lead rich, full lives, whatever that means to them or their families. I hold a master's degree in counseling psychology from LIOS Graduate College of Saybrook University. I'm trained in holistic health coaching through the Institute for Integrative Nutrition. I blend these two skills to offer a rich coaching or counseling experience. I'm holistic in orientation, tailoring our work to meet your unique needs. Whether you need help to meet personal or professional goals, seek support with dietary or lifestyle issues, or simply want someone to bear witness to your growth journey while holding you accountable, I can help.
An active and supportive listener, I work to help you feel supported, but challenged to be your best self. I help you understand your unique challenges, and then to make changes that help you live your best possible life. As a holistic health coach, I focus on physical activity, nutrition, relationships, and other components of life that can affect your health and happiness. I serve as a guide and mentor who can support you to implement sustainable healthy choices. I want to help you meet your goals for emotional balance, better relationships, and greater health and happiness so you can embrace the joy of an enchanted life.

My View on the Purpose of Psychotherapy
"In therapy, understanding is the booby prize. It is a shallow victory to wind up with a detailed psychological explanation for problems that remain unchanged." I believe that therapy, at its essence, helps us reclaim the health, wellness and happiness that we were born to have. A lot of people get tripped up along the road of life and end up in a place where they aren't quite who they want to be, they aren't quite living the life they want to live. And therapy can certainly help us understand why this happens, what is the root of the problem. What has gone wrong? But understanding doesn't erase suffering. I take a two-pronged approach with a lot of my clients - we get their life stabilized, set goals and start building on some "wins" while simultaneously working together to explore deeper issues, patterns, past traumas, etc. that brought them to a place of suffering. It is tough to make much meaningful progress in one of these areas alone; My approach tends to both simultaneously so that true, meaningful, sustainable change can be made.
What I Love about Being a Psychotherapist
I absolutely love my job. I like the container of trust that I create with my clients which becomes a sacred space for the important work of healing. Witnessing healing is one of the most amazing things. I like diving deep with my clients but I also enjoy weaving in humor and lightness to balance the darkness of the depths. I love see a client move through a set of limiting beliefs, traumas, etc. and come out on the other side with a newfound wholeness and peace. I love helping clients learn to listen to their own intuition and find the answers that they seek were hiding inside them all along. I love the magical act I get to witness which is people changing their lives, making them what they need them to be with all the richness and fullness and beauty and connecting that makes life worth living.
