My Approach to Helping

I think in systems. Often, if we have emotional or mental health concerns, our spiritual life, relationships, and physical health are all affected as well. But all it takes is one lever to set off a chain reaction of healing. This is how I approach therapy.

Your mind, emotions, body, marriage, family, and business are all systems. You are not broken, but something in the system is not working. Often, the people who are led to therapy have felt like "black sheep," but the world needs the viewpoint you have to offer. You may be the cycle breaker in an unhealthy system.

My therapy approach combines empathy and meeting you where you are with a strategic, pragmatic focus on change. I believe you are the leader in your own growth and healing, and you are the expert on you. I love nothing more than seeing you get the results you came to therapy for. I am here to work myself out of a job.

What I Love about Being a Psychotherapist

Seeing you find win-wins in your life where before it seemed like it was always a win-lose or a lose-lose situation.

My Guiding Ethical Principles

1. Work Toward Connectedness
I believe all problems, psychological, emotional, spiritual, and physical, come from a sense of separation?from God, others, and self. When I use the word ?God,? I?m referring to the God of the Bible, perfectly revealed in Jesus. Some of my clients may prefer ?Higher Power,? ?Creator,? ?Source,? ?Ultimate Truth,? ?Inner Knowing,? or other terms.

2.Everyone Can Hear from God
You were designed to hear from God?the Voice of Truth and Love. Intrusive thoughts, anxiety, depression?these are often symptoms of deep inner loneliness, a sense that we are on our own and that it?s all up to us to ?figure it out.? One goal of therapy is to bring us back to our true state of being. It?s easy for Truth and Love to drown out the noise when we?re living in our true identity.

3.You Are the Expert on You
I believe every client is the leader in their own growth and healing, so I take a person-centered, customized, integrative approach. Everyone has their own journey and timeline. Tools exist to serve people, not the other way around. One thing you?ll hear me say a lot is ?I could be wrong.?

Bottom line: I am an advocate and ally; you are the expert on you.

My View on the Nature of 'Disorders'

What we call "disorders" are often the magic of our bodies and minds doing exactly what they were designed to do under certain conditions. My approach to healing is to create a sense of safety for, heal, give voice to, and integrate the parts of you that have been shoved into the shadows and silenced. It is amazing how many "disorders" heal when we have fully processed our grief and trauma and are able to show up in the world as our true, authentic, joyful, powerful selves.
