My Approach to Helping

I am a partner at Leek Therapy. I am committed to fostering a supportive and nonjudgmental therapeutic relationship, where you can truly be you! My approach supports transparency, collaboration, and empowerment to help clients overcome obstacles, manage stress, and promote healing. When working with me, I will draw from my education and experience by utilizing evidence-based modalities such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, and Solution Focused Therapy. Our work together will be tailored towards your goals and objectives with promoting growth and building confidence.

More Info About My Practice

Leek Therapy is a private group practice of over 20 professional therapists and counselors. Our therapists have a wide variety of therapeutic approaches and include specialists in trauma, eating disorders, ADHD, children, sexual and gender identity, addiction and much more. They are supported by a full time, professional staff of Client Care Specialists that will help place you with the right therapist, with the right experience and expertise for you. When you contact Leek Therapy, we will ALWAYS get back to you right away and place you with a therapist quickly. Because we're a group, we won't leave you on your own if the therapist you chose isn't available when you are, we'll introduce to you a therapist who's just as qualified and IS available to help you.

Specific Issue(s) I'm Skilled at Helping With

As a clinical therapist, I have a solid background in supporting clients with various mental health concerns. I specialize in helping clients with anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship issues, self-esteem, and life transitions. My approach is gentle yet straightforward?I see myself as a "digger," helping you explore your thoughts and feelings to uncover the roots of your challenges and start from there.

How Psychotherapy Can Help

Psychotherapy isn?t one-size-fits-all, and the support it offers can vary greatly based on what you need. Together, we?ll explore ways to manage stress, enhance your relationships, and build resilience for a more fulfilling and balanced life. Ultimately, therapy is about helping you understand yourself better and tackle life?s challenges with confidence.

My View on the Purpose of Psychotherapy

I view psychotherapy as a journey of self-discovery and healing. It?s a safe space where you can dive into your thoughts and feelings, explore your beliefs about yourself and the world, and gain insight into who you are and where you want to go. We?ll work together to develop effective coping strategies?complete with humor, a few swears, and maybe some tears along the way! This collaborative process can lead to meaningful changes, boosting your emotional well-being and personal growth.

What I Love about Being a Psychotherapist

I love being a therapist because I get to see my clients' progress and transformations firsthand. Every session is a chance to connect and support you on your unique journey. Helping you navigate challenges and discover your strengths is super rewarding, and I feel honored to be part of such vulnerable moments in your life.

My Role as a Therapist

As a therapist, my role is to create a safe, welcoming, and accepting space for you to uncover insights, develop coping strategies, and foster personal growth. Building trust takes time, so I start by discussing consent, your goals, and the therapy styles we might use?and I even ask if I can sprinkle in some humor or swearing! My aim is for you to feel at ease in a non-judgmental environment where you can explore the deepest parts of who you are. I see myself as a ?digger,? helping you get to the root of your thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. Together, we?ll navigate challenges and take steps toward meaningful change.

My Therapy Focus

I totally get it?starting therapy can feel a bit scary! Just know it?s a safe, non-judgmental space where you can take your time to explore what?s on your mind. We?ll work together to build trust, and I?m here to support you. It?s all about what feels right for you, and I want to make this a positive experience.

What I Usually Need to Know to Help

That?s a great question, and it really depends on why you?re seeking therapy! It?s helpful to know your goals, the type of therapist you feel comfortable with, and the specific challenges you?re facing. Sharing your personal history can also give insight into your current situation. Plus, telling me about any coping strategies you?ve tried, past therapy experiences, and your support network can really help us get started.

My Guiding Ethical Principles

I?m committed to high ethical standards, which means keeping your info private and creating a safe, non-judgmental space. I see clients only on video using a secure, encrypted platform specifically designed for telehealth sessions. I respect your individuality and believe in clear boundaries while working together. My goal is to empower you through open communication, so your needs and well-being are always a priority.

On the Fence About Going to Therapy?

It?s totally normal to feel this way! Taking the first step can be really intimidating, but look at you?you?re here, seeking support, and I?m already proud of you! I understand that finding the right fit is important for making this experience as beneficial as possible. If you want, feel free to reach out for a quick consultation call or set up an intake, and we can chat more about these common but overwhelming feelings!

Had a Negative Therapy Experience?

I?m really sorry to hear you had a negative therapy experience before. It?s completely understandable to feel hesitant about seeking support again. Remember, not every therapist or approach is the right fit for everyone. In our sessions, I focus on creating a safe and supportive space where you can share your concerns openly. Together, we can work on rebuilding trust and finding a style that works for you. Your healing journey is unique, and I?m here to support you every step of the way.

Important Factors for Choosing a Therapist

Working the right therapist is key! Think about their qualifications and approach and see if their style clicks with you. Trust and comfort are super important, so look for someone who makes you feel safe and understood. Also, consider what specific issues you want to work on. Finding the right fit can really boost your therapy experience!

How My Own Struggles Made Me a Better Therapist

My own experiences with challenges have really shaped who I am as a therapist. Going through tough times has helped me understand what it?s like to seek support, making me more empathetic and relatable. I bring these insights into our sessions, creating a genuine connection that can help you feel understood and supported.

What I Say to People Concerned about the Therapy Process

A strong client-therapist alliance is super important for effective therapy. When we build trust and work together, you?ll feel more comfortable opening up, which leads to real progress. Your comfort and connection with me are what it?s all about!

Why Going to Therapy Does Not Mean You are Weak or Flawed

Going to therapy is a brave step, not a sign of weakness! It shows you?re taking charge of your health. We all face challenges, and seeking support is a sign of strength.

My View on the Nature of 'Disorders'

I see "disorders" as complex experiences, not just labels. They represent challenges many people go through, often shaped by a mix of biology, psychology, and life circumstances. My focus is on understanding your unique story and helping you navigate those challenges for healing and growth.

The Duration and Frequency of Therapy

Psychotherapy isn?t one-size-fits-all?what works for you might not work for someone else! My client-centered approach focuses on your needs and therapy goals. I?ve found that the best progress comes from weekly sessions, allowing us to dive into deeper experiences rather than just having ?check-in? chats.

What Makes up a Problem?

A problem usually involves a mix of thoughts, feelings, and life situations. It?s shaped by past experiences and current stressors. By understanding these pieces, we can tackle the issue together and find solutions that work for you!
