My Approach to Helping
Regina Sewell MA LPC (Georgia License #LPC013152) As a Licensed Professional Counselor, I am dedicated to helping individuals tap into their true potential and overcome the obstacles that prevent them from living fulfilling lives. I encourage clients to explore their deepest emotions, thoughts, and aspirations to uncover the root causes of dissatisfaction and work toward healing and personal growth. My focus areas include anxiety, depression, life transitions, trauma, low self-esteem, and anger management. As I become more familiar with your concerns, we will modify them as needed and then determine the most appropriate strategies to help you make progress.
I most frequently use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy in my practice with a more integrative and holistic approach to healing and mental well-being. Other therapeutic approaches include Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) techniques, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, and Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR). While my work is dedicated to assisting individuals from diverse backgrounds, I am particularly committed to supporting black-identifying women and men. I recognize the unique experiences and challenges they face, and I strive to provide a space that honors their identities and fosters healing and growth. My therapeutic focus areas include anxiety, depression, life transitions, trauma, low self-esteem, and anger management.
In our sessions, clients can expect an emotionally safe and non-judgmental space where they can freely express their emotions, fears, and desires. I will listen attentively, offering guidance and support as we navigate through the challenges they're facing. My life was that of the "prescribed path," the one considered successful by doing all the "right things," such as going to college and getting a good job. My life was that prescribed path until I did my own work to turn it around. I'm passionate about helping clients realize their human potential for self-actualization, releasing past fears, and turning their pains into joy for more creative and inspired living.
Our therapeutic relationship will be built on trust, empathy, and collaboration, allowing us to work together towards their goals. Collaboration is key to creating specific, measurable, actionable, attainable goals and the client's willingness to go on the journey towards healing and feeling better. The initial session will be one of information gathering with reference to the biological, psychological, and social history of the presenting mental health concern. We'll explore what brought the client to therapy and then decide the most appropriate ways to help them make progress.
