My Approach to Helping

I can attest, having worked with many clients over the years, I have witnessed time and time again the true value that a psychotherapeutic relationship can provide. Through hard work, growing authenticity, and commitment, a therapeutic relationship brings forth genuine opportunities for new & useful insight, new eye opening perspectives, the application of new and working coping skills, a freedom from debilitating challenges like anxiety, panic, depression, a renewed & focused life plan, significant transformational changes, and more. Therapy can have a significant impact, once you make the powerful decision to seek treatment, and develop new belief that life can be different.

My diverse training at UCSC, USF, Stanford University, Fremont Hospital, and as Program Director at Center For Discovery, specializing in treatment of adolescents struggling with eating disorders, has helped me to be sensitive to cultural differences, knowledgeable about a wide array of mental health struggles, and that providing a quality and comfortable relationship, is integral.

My style is direct, yet comforting and empathetic. My approach is psychodynamic...embraced with the tools of cognitive behavioral techniques where appropriate, and accompanied by a language that is solution-focused and results oriented. I often reference object relations as I detect relational patterns and attachment styles that play a part in the clients narrative.

I am additionally specialized in the assessment consult treatment of eating disorders. Please inquire regarding rates.

Treating individuals who struggle with an eating disorder takes a provider who has extensive experience in the treatment of eating disorders. One who understands the complexity and power of the eating disorder, and the patience and understanding that is needed to support an individual on the challenging journey towards recovery, maintaining recovery, and relapse prevention. Most often, this journey involves not only the client, but their family and support system as well.
Having spent the past 10 years, working with individuals on this journey, on a daily basis, as Program Director for Center Discovery's Adolescent Residential Treatment Center for Eating Disorders, and as Clinical Director at Monte Nido & Affiliates Adult Residential Treatment Center for Eating Disorders, I can offer the specialized support and guidance.

Eating Disorder Specialty Rates: Consults Assessment: $400.00 (1 hour 30 min session). Individual sessions: $250.00 (60 min session). Family Sessions: $300.00 (60 min session). In home consultinterventiontriage available.
