My Approach to Helping

Whether it's stress at home or work, relationship drama or your own stuff that gets in the way, we can work together to remove real or imagined barriers to help you succeed and live the life you deserve. My approach to mental wellness is holistic, grounded in theory, yet collaborative and responsive to your distinct needs.

I help people who are stuck or struggling to cope with change, trauma, grief and loss, and difficult relationship dynamics. I view therapy through a narrative, multicultural, womanist lens; that means a heightened awareness of how culture and systems influence your life and your self- and worldview.

I also support clients who are seeking to make lasting lifestyle improvements to benefit their health. I provide Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), couples therapy and expressive arts interventions. I support people of all backgrounds and I am especially interested in supporting women and people of color.

More Info About My Practice

As a Psychotherapist and Holistic Health Coach, I have more than 10 years' experience in working with individuals, couples and groups on issues ranging from strained relationships to depression and anxiety to overeating. Incorporating EMDR, narrative and expressive arts therapies, I can help you gain a better understanding of how you think and relate to your world. I also apply cognitive-behavioral techniques to help you identify and change negative patterns of thinking and behaving. I am specially trained to help with trauma, grief and loss, couples and family dynamics, and addiction and compulsive behaviors.

Muse & Grace Mental Health Counseling promotes mental, physical and relational transformation through effective psychotherapeutic modalities including artistic expression. We encourage creative expression individually and collectively for deeper awareness, recovery, resilience and wellbeing.

We are affiliated with Positive Psychology Associates, a community of independent professionals who offer a wide range of services including psychotherapy, coaching, peak performance training, hypnosis, biofeedback, relational training and health and wellness consulting.

What I Love about Being a Psychotherapist

I find it deeply fulfilling to help people learn about themselves, find their voice and take steps to change their relationship to themselves and others. Those "aha" moments can often be unearthed through traditional "talk" therapy and by incorporating expressive arts like writing and drawing, which can help you go where you may not otherwise venture. Therapy is a powerful tool to help you to get unstuck and become unstoppable.

Why Going to Therapy Does Not Mean You are Weak or Flawed

We're often told to "be strong" at moments when we feel anything but. Seeking the support of an unbiased, trained professional is an act of courage and a show of strength. Therapy is self-care, and self-care is a radical act of self-love and self-preservation.

Importance of the Client-Therapist Alliance

Consider our therapeutic alliance as a mini-laboratory where you can "test-drive" ways of being and get unbiased, non-judgey feedback. Our relationship is a safe, rich and fertile ground for exploring and understanding how you navigate the world and what changes you can make to ease your journey.
