My Approach to Helping
Hello,
I am so glad you have taken the next step to feeling and being your optimal best physically, emotionally, and socially. I have been providing counseling therapy for 11 years and enjoy working with people of all ages who have various issues or life challenges that may arise through the course of their lives. I am goal-oriented and believe the mind and body work as a team. The brain is the power control system for our well-being. I believe if one system is out of sync it affects all the other systems of our body in some shape or form. There are many factors that affect and shape us as children and adults such as heredity, poverty, poor parenting, substance abuse, divorce, trauma, illnesses, and diseases, among many other unforeseen circumstances. My point is many of us will eventually experience one or more of the above whether as a child or an adult and how we are wired and have the appropriate knowledge and skills to deal with specific circumstances or life changes may have a big impact on our mental and physical health. I can help you navigate through life changes, and provide research-based tools and strategies to promote and or overcome many discomforting feelings and emotions that may be inhibiting you from feeling and becoming your optimal best. You deserve to feel at peace and have total control of your emotions, feelings, and actions.
Please feel free to contact me for any other questions or concerns you may have regarding the therapeutic process as well as the modalities I use.
More Info About My Practice
I have my practice and office. I have designed it myself, so it speaks to who I am. People tell me that it is a warm and inviting atmosphere. My clients and their loved ones enjoy the ambiance and (calming) feeling when they step into my waiting area. The only thing it is missing is a fireplace but the building code would not allow it. I provide various modalities depending on your individual needs. I am certified and trained in the following modalities; eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR) which is not only used for trauma but for many other issues as well, play therapy, dialectic behavior therapy (DBT) cognitive behavior therapy (CBT), Art therapy, motivation interviewing therapy ( MIT) and animal-assisted therapy (AAT).
How Psychotherapy Can Help
Psychotherapy can be helpful when it comes to navigate through life changes and its challenges. Many people seek psychotherapy to get tools and gain coping strategies for difficult situations such as a divorce, loss of a job, relationship, illnesses, addictions, a difficult move and a death of a loved one; among numerous other reasons. Psychotherapy can help with emotions, thoughts and feelings that may come from life challenges and change. For example; loneliness, excessive worry, poor self-esteem, anger, hopelessness, discord, confusion, disconnected, withdrawn and overwhelming feelings that prohibit us from every day expectations and demands. Moreover, research shows psychotherapy helps people effectively make good decisions, feel better emotional social and physically. In addition, people who have seen a therapist counselor have a better outlook on life and live happy, healthy productive life.
