My Approach to Helping
Counseling is a treatment process that utilizes specialized assessment tools, theoretical approaches, strategies, and techniques that are designed to bring about effective change in your emotive, cognitive and behavioral functioning. These empirically designed interventions offer effective change and provide help to people suffering from a wide range of difficulties, such as emotional distress, anxiety, fears, significant loss and other clinical disorders. Counseling can also help to fulfill aspirations for personal growth or self-improvement. It is my belief that seeking counseling is a sign of strength and enables you to explore your concerns in a safe, supportive, and nonjudgmental context so that you have the opportunity for growth and self-discovery. Counseling is not like a doctor’s visit but requires a very active effort on your part. It involves the professional relationship between you and a trained counselor who will facilitate change and assist you in the accomplishment of agreed upon goals. You are responsible for making the effort to work on problems that you present, and I am committed to facilitating change and help you in this process. The purpose of these processes is to enable you to move toward greater psychological health, maximizing adaptive functioning and improving life satisfaction.
