My Approach to Helping

I believe in your innate power to heal and grow from uncomfortable and challenging life experiences. I also applaud your choice to begin the significant process of change through counseling services.

My philosophy to help illicit the dynamics of effective change you are seeking utilizes recognizing the power of intentionality.
“When you're not intentional then you intentionally create the life you UNintended.”

Whether you've experienced trauma recently or many years ago, these experiences may continue to impact you in the present in various ways. Within my scope of practice, the client defines their traumatic incidents which can range from minor to catastrophic experiences. I offer a collaborative validating, and affirming space to access and work through past experiences, however, they may show up, therefore creating self-exploration, personal growth, and healing. Through validating feelings and reframing irrational thinking patterns, I help my clients fully accept themselves while encouraging and motivating them toward the changes they seek in their lives.

I use a combination of evidence-based treatments, including Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT), Narrative Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Psychodynamic approaches. In utilizing these approaches, we will collaborate to discover emotional and behavioral patterns or negative perceptions that may be holding you back from living the life you desire.
I am LGBTQ+ friendly and primarily work with clients with mood (anxiety, depression, PSTD, etc), relationship difficulties while also having specialized training and experience working with grief and trauma.

I am the clinical expert but you are the expert of self, as I can not know you better than you know yourself, therefore; collaboratively we will focus on your strengths, explore the patterns that have brought you to where you are today, as well as discuss intentional changes you can make to struggle less and create a richer, more fulfilling life. In addition to listening and offering empathy, I enjoy teaching mindfulness and self-compassion, as well as coping skills for managing anxiety, regulating emotions, increasing self-esteem, and more confidently navigating relationships.

It can be challenging to manage life and wellness so for your convenience I offer online (virtual) counseling which allows you the ease of wellness from the comfort of your chosen location. The virtual counseling experience offers relief from traffic, zero travel expenses, and convenient hours. Change, challenges, and conflict are inevitable; how we respond to those dynamics makes all the difference. I know it can be uncomfortable to take the first step and reach out; however, it can also be quite rewarding. If any of what you read connects with you please email or call me, as I’d love to join you on your journey to healing by scheduling you for a FREE brief 10-minute initial phone consultation.
