My Approach to Helping
Life can be challenging and painful. Relationships break. Your self-esteem may suffer, and life can feel lonely and lacking. Addictions may be ruining your life and the lives of ones you love. A history of trauma can challenge your most cherished hopes and dreams, and can drain your coping skills. This pain can touch every area of your life.
I know that pain can be healed. I am a licensed professional counselor who embraces holistic methods that focus on belief systems, emotions, relationships, spirituality, and health. I offer counseling services for women, men, couples, and teens in a safe and confidential environment. I specialize in helping people navigate the challenges of addiction, interventions, depression, OCD, grief, eating disorders, anxiety, incest, women's issues, infidelity, and post-traumatic stress disorder.
More Info About My Practice
Together we'll work toward growth and personal healing, with a strong emphasis on cognitive and behavioral skills, emotional coping, health, and spiritual development. I use a humanistic, eclectic style to ensure each of you get your needs met. I listen to you and provide empathy and support, while also challenging your growth with coaching. I am interactive, rather than just listening. And sometimes I even give homework. I can help you regain hope by working with the whole person and providing a safe environment where you can explore your physical, intellectual, relational, spiritual, and emotional health. My goal is to help you live a healthy, happy, soulful, and more meaningful life.
Specific Issue(s) I'm Skilled at Helping With
I have worked within the field of addictions recovery since 1990 both in treatment facilities and within private practice. It's affects on the individual and family are often devastating with each person playing a role. As a consequence I have worked with the addict and the enabler, the codependent and the adult child, and I have witnessed the joy of recovery.
How Psychotherapy Can Help
I have witnessed and experienced lives that have grown and reached hopes and reached dreams. I know from personal experience the pain of low self-esteem and have also personally experienced growth through therapy. It is one way I can give back. Being a therapist is not just a career choice for me. It is my passion.
Important Factors for Choosing a Therapist
The choice of going into therapy does not mean a person is weak. Rather it means you have the courage to begin to change your life from the pain of surviving to a life of thriving. Choosing a therapist is crucial to the process. It is important to look for a therapist who has understanding and who can provide safe and confidential services. The supportive relationship I provide to my clients, which I combine with years of practice and counseling knowledge, offers a unique counseling experience where you feel heard, understood and hopeful. It is my goal to work with you in a holistic manner: Emotional, Relational, CognitiveBehavioral, Spiritual and Health to achieve a life of balance.
