My Approach to Helping
I believe that everyone has an innate ability to heal and find fulfillment. Sometimes the stress of life piles on and we lose touch with that instinct. That's where therapy comes in. Together we can pool our tools and perspectives to help you regain clarity and direction. At times in therapy, I will offer science-backed insights into human behavior and psychology. More importantly, I will listen, give you space, and strive to understand the depth of your unique situation. The first step in making sense of your story is to tell it.
More Info About My Practice
Psychotherapy is a healing practice used to address mental illness and improve wellbeing. People pursue counseling with me for all manner of issues related to the human experience. Some of the more common examples include difficulties with anxiety, depression, grief, family conflict, loneliness, self-esteem, and addiction. I also have particular experience treating teenage boys, married couples, adult men and women living with trauma, anger issues, and ADHD.
Important Factors for Choosing a Therapist
A vital part of your therapeutic journey will be to find a therapist that you can connect to. The quality of the counselor-client relationship is a primary driver of progress. Both academic research and my personal experience can attest to this truth. Don't be afraid to meet with a few counselors before settling on the right fit. While it does take time to build trust, I think you will notice within a session or two if you would like to continue the work with that counselor. In the rare event that you find that I am not the right fit for your needs, I would be happy to help you locate a different treatment more suited to you. Fortunately, more often than not, I've found I am able to build a strong foundation with new clients.
