My Approach to Helping

My name is Sabrina Brijbassi, and I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) practicing in the state of Florida working with clients via telehealth. I work primarily with adults and late teens from a variety of backgrounds and identities. I aim to provide supportive care and specialize in anxiety, OCD, depression, trauma, and disordered eating. My approach to effective therapy involves working with clients to incorporate strategies and interventions to improve their quality of life through Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), Intuitive Eating and other interdisciplinary theories. I also have specialized training in CBT with Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) and Habit Reversal Training (HRT).

My approach to therapy is a good fit for late teens into late adulthood. Using evidence-based practice, I bring an effective and individualized treatment approach to address presenting concerns, including but not limited to, anxiety, stress, OCD, depression, trauma, and disordered eating. I strive to help others as best as I can to work toward their therapeutic goals. I aim to provide a safe and open space for those seeking to make changes in their lives to improve their quality of life and encourage value-driven actions. I strive to advocate for my clients and create an environment that is culturally sensitive and inclusive of those from any background or identity. I meet clients in session with empathy, open-mindedness, and the determination to support them in their endeavors.

I work with clients to create healthy habits that promote their own values and beliefs. My approach to wellness is finding the balance between self-care and responsibilities. I work to help clients hold space for both and reframe taking care of one's self as productivity so that we may have more energy and ability to manage whatever else life throws at us. What you can expect from our first session together is for us to spend the majority of our time talking about what's led you to seek out therapy, and me getting to know you! The first session is about building a therapeutic relationship and setting expectations for the goals of future sessions. Everyone is different and I aim to learn more about you to create an individualized and helpful plan moving forward.
