My Approach to Helping
Because we are all unique, we may not fit into a specific therapeutic technique. This is why I see individuals through a holistic lens. My approach to therapy is client-centered. This means I value the relationship with the person and the therapy is focused on what works for the person. There are many evidence-based practices to integrate in this approach including cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), narrative, and mindfulness. My particular area of specialty is play therapy, which is a psychotherapeutic approach that allows individuals to express their emotions and thoughts through activity or "play". It works with anyone who may be reluctant or unable to communicate what they may be thinking or feeling verbally. Play builds therapeutic experience and understanding, which helps foster growth.
