My Approach to Helping
I am dedicated to helping teens and adults work through life transitions, relationship challenges, and trauma while providing a safe space to overcome anxiety, stress, and social expectations.
I began my career working in K-12 education, but after experiencing a major trauma in my own life I pivoted to therapy. I wanted to use my own therapeutic journey to healing to help others who are struggling. I have over two decades of experience working with children and teens as an advocate, volunteer, and teacher. Prior to beginning my private practice, I spent two years working in community mental health and providing wraparound intensive counseling services to children, teens, and their families. As a mom, I also love working with new mothers on the unique challenges motherhood presents no matter where they are in the journey.
In my practice I work with both adults and teens ages 13 and up, and I particularly enjoy working with teen girls and young women on issues such as self-esteem and body image, school and familial struggles, trauma, and anxiety. I work best with clients who are motivated, open, and engaged in the therapeutic process. I am certified in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), however I utilize many different therapeutic approaches in order to find what works best for each individual client so that they feel validated and heard.
The connections I build with my clients play a big part in the success of therapy, and I value the bravery it takes for a client to reach out for help. I am happy to provide a free 15-minute phone consultation to assess fit and answer any questions you may have.
