My Approach to Helping
If you’re experiencing depression, anxiety, or are struggling with relationship challenges, these symptoms may actually be an invitation to new growth. If you’re dealing with trauma, grief or a major life transition and feel like you've exhausted your resources to cope, there is hope. You don’t have to go it alone.
As a therapist, I strive to support you to derive meaning from life’s inherent challenges while helping you to develop a deeper understanding and appreciation for yourself. I work to illuminate and challenge the unconsciously held beliefs and patterns of behavior that are often at the root of needless suffering. Pain is perhaps an inevitable part of life. Self-inflicted suffering need not be.
I find that mindfulness practice, self-compassion and a sense of humor are helpful allies as the work unfolds. My therapeutic approach is warm, empathic, and collaborative. I offer a free, initial telephone consultation to answer any questions you may have and see if it makes sense to make an appointment for therapy. I’m available to meet with you in-person at my Union Street office in San Francisco, or online throughout California.
