My Approach to Helping

My goal is to provide couples and families with compassionate, insightful, and practical therapy that opens the door to hope, healing, and change. I specialize in relationship counseling that includes couples therapy and family counseling services for those interested in making dynamic, lasting changes in their lives and relationships with others.I work daily with people from a variety of backgrounds who are making the choice to invest in themselves and their relationships. By seeking help and counsel outside of their normal circle, these couples, families, and individuals are making a brave choice to imagine a different future with greater understanding, less confusion, and different habits.

How Psychotherapy Can Help

As a Psychotherapist, it is my responsibility to listen well to your needs and desires, and to help validate some of the deepest parts of your self that tend to remain conflicted and hidden from those around you and sometimes even yourself. When this happens, you are then free to decide what to do with these needs and desires in a way that is new and exciting. You will likely find yourself feeling less stuck in situations that before would have caused panic and anxiety.

How My Own Struggles Made Me a Better Therapist

In my own individual therapy work, I experienced the anxiety of choosing someone to talk with about my very personal struggles and the relief of finding that person open to hearing what I had to say and still feeling cared for by them. This absolutely makes me better qualified to offer something similar to what I received; a caring presence and the space to be more myself than I had been willing to be before. This is essential to moving forward in our lives. Whether that is in a new relationship or in a very familiar, broken relationship, I think we all desire to be at peace with ourselves and with others. In essence, therapy is the process by which you gain a better understanding of your role in remaining far away from the peace you desire and discovering a new way to move closer to feeling that sense of peace.
