My Approach to Helping
I’m a counselor in Southeastern Ohio who has created a unique approach that combines modern treatment methods with ancient wisdom. Rather than just treating the symptoms, this approach seeks out the root of a problem, bringing healing on mental, emotional, spiritual, and relational levels.
We’ll use therapy tools such as CBT, problem-solving, psychoeducation, and communication skills, along with ancient practices like mindfulness, meditation, breath work, and the shamanic journey.
The shamanic journey is a powerful tool for recovering from trauma, depression, and anxiety, and can help us to know ourselves better, gain a sense of mastery, and feel more connected to the world around us.
The shamanic journey is a deep form of meditation that can help us recognize and change the inner stories that define our lives. This is done through the use of symbolism, metaphor, imagery, and building connections to our personal sources of strength.
This approach is especially helpful for individuals who feel lost, uncertain, stuck in old patterns, or who feel that they are wounded in some way. It is also a wonderful way to gain a deeper understanding of yourself and the world around you. If you’re struggling with the “bigger questions” in life, shamanic journey can certainly help.
As a shamanically-informed counselor, I bring empathy, patience, and understanding to each session. I respect all walks of life, and believe that deep down, you know what is right for you. My aim is to help you uncover that, and to help you release any of the “gunk” that’s been stuck there by loved ones, past experiences, or society as a whole.
I hope to help clients heal and discover their true selves, lead the lives they want to live, and find a greater sense of purpose, peace, and belonging in the world.
