My Approach to Helping
Hi, I am Shane O’Hare, a clinically licensed social worker in the states of Maryland and Delaware. I am originally from Northern Ireland and was born in Belfast in the 70s. I have been very lucky to live and work in different countries, and this has given me excellent opportunities to learn about people and challenges. Many of my clients come to me with concerns around stress, anxiety, depression, mood disorders, anger management, and trauma. We talk about these topics not just in how they are affecting you, but also how they are affecting your family and personal relationships or how they may be affecting your work or school. Also, during sessions, we will talk about your goals—what you want to change in your life or how your life would look if you were to overcome and manage these concerns. Initial sessions will allow us time to understand each other. After you feel comfortable with the relationship, we can then delve a little deeper into ways forward. Usually, I meet weekly and at the beginning of future sessions, we will look back at the week between sessions, discuss progress, challenges, and anything else that comes up that is helping you reach your goals or you feel is preventing you from reaching them.
