My Approach to Helping

With me as your therapist, you can expect to feel truly heard, validated, and understood. My therapeutic approach is especially suited for those who come from oppressed backgrounds, where your voice may have been silenced or discounted. In our sessions, I’ll continually remind you that self-care is essential, not selfish, and that your feelings are important. I will never push you to discuss anything before you’re ready; trauma requires a delicate approach. I deeply value the therapeutic relationships I build with my clients, and together, we’ll create a safe, supportive environment where you feel comfortable and empowered before opening up.

More Info About My Practice

I take pride in identifying as a Black woman therapist of Caribbean descent, especially considering that in the U.S., less than 4% of therapists share this background. This is concerning, given that Black individuals represent a significant portion of the therapeutic population. Black identities often intersect with other marginalized groups, such as BIPOC, female, or LGBTQ+, increasing the likelihood of chronic stress or burnout. I’m committed to driving change in the mental health field, ensuring that Black and BIPOC individuals have access to high-quality care where their experiences and voices are truly validated.
