My Approach to Helping
My name is Shannon Toy (sheher), M.Ed, LCSW. I prefer to be called by my middle name, Julianne. I graduated with a Master of Education from Concordia University in 2015 and a Master of Social Work from Simmons University in 2018. I work with a wide range of ages and populations including children, adolescents, adults, and families. I also specialize in working with the LGBTQ+ population. Areas of specialty include: anxiety, behavioral problems, stress management, trauma, adjusting to change, mood disorders. Preferred modalities include: cognitive behavioral therapy, solution-focused therapy, narrative, rational emotive, and mindfulness techniques. My counseling style is solution-focused and strengths-based rather than problem-focused. I am a true believer in client-centered care and believe you should be included in every step of your care. Working with me means that I will advocate for you and work with you to empower you to live a happier and healthier life.
